Fourth Avenue’s full, warm blend and classy, but fun, presentation entertains and transports audiences. Fourth Avenue loves to perform – it was this love of performing that brought these four individuals together! Strong barbershop roots, love of tight harmonies, and appreciation for all types of musical styles allows for well-balanced and entertaining show packages.

Fourth Avenue had the distinction of earning the top wildcard position for the fall 2005 Sweet Adeline International Competition. This honor goes to the ten highest scoring quartets who did not win their Regional contests. And, what an honor!

Fourth Avenue keeps busy perfecting and performing the music we love. We balance busy professional and personal lives, as well as serve in a variety of capacities in the Sweet Adelines organization – coaches, educators (both regionally and internationally), regional team members.

Shirley Price sings lead. She is a licensed mental health counselor by day, who also sings in a band with a few other baby-boomers come the weekend and evenings. She and her husband are quite busy enjoying their four grandbabies. Shirley is currently serving in Region 24 as the Education Coordinator.

Patty Severns sings tenor and is a retired Speech-Language-Voice Pathologist from the Washington school system. Patty also directed a small chorus on the Oregon coast for several years and has served on Region 24’s Management Team in several capacities: Membership and Marketing, Chapter Coordinator, and as Team Leader. Patty is enjoying all of her grown children – and grandchildren.

Nancy Kurth fills those chords as the quartet’s baritone. Nancy is retired from a 35-year career as a claims manager for a large insurance company, and currently owns her own consulting business. With the total support of her husband,  retirement has “freed” Nancy’s calendar for even more involvement in the Sweet Adeline organization – as a director of a small chorus, assistant director of a larger chorus, voice teacher, music educator – the list goes on! Nancy is currently serving Region 24 as the Marketing Coordinator. 

And, Kris Pederson, Fourth Avenue’s bass, is busy with her organizational work within the health industry, along with her independent consulting and training business. She too is an associate director for a large chorus, music educator, acting coach and trainer of trainers in Sweet Adelines. Kris is currently serving Region 24 as the Directors Coordinator.
